But this week, the biggest news dropped: Tame Impala is part of The Smashing Pumpkins Tribute Album 2026, covering "1979" with a psychedelic twist. The Smashing Pumpkins Tribute Album 2026 features 18 artists reimagining classics from Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie. Tame Impala’s take on "1979" is already blowing up - Kevin Parker layered his signature phaser-drenched synths over the original drum machine beat, turning it into a seven-minute dreamscape. In a press statement, Parker said, "It’s a song I’ve played in my head for years. I wanted to keep the nostalgia but make it feel like a memory you can’t quite place."
The album dropped on June 18, and the merch launch followed that weekend. This is the first time Tame Impala has released official merchandise tied to a cover project, and it’s only available through the official Tame Impala store.
The hero piece is the Tame Impala Classic T-Shirt ($24.99). It’s not a generic band tee - the front features a minimalist design of a melting pumpkin superimposed with the Tame Impala logo, referencing the cover art. The back has the tracklist with Tame Impala’s name highlighted in gold foil.

Right now, the tribute album merch is exclusive to the official Tame Impala store. It’s not on Amazon or at your local mall. The Classic T-Shirt launched on June 20 and has already sold out in size Medium twice - they’ve restocked, but no guarantees.
Other retailers like Urban Outfitters might carry the album vinyl (with different cover art), but the official merch - the pumpkin logo - only lives here. Shipping is $5 flat in the US, international for $12.
